My parachute- Process

Picture of the string with the tennis-ball inside.

Hello there! Want to see who our team made the parachute. At first , we thought it was easy but.....

Anyway , let me tell you guys out there the parachute as in , we only made it from a garbage bag followed by a cup to hold the tennis ball. Sounds silly , right? But that's how we made it by using the creativity that we had.

Not only that , with the dimensions given as 50 cm by 50 cm ( maximum ) , we started off with the real work by giving and making trials per trials.

So all the pictures shown here are the real process for the parachute. Imagine yourself doing it!

We took much pain and work to finish up the process. It was exteremely tiring. How not , if without the determination and willingness to do it , we do not think that we can make it.

We took the time to do some trials on the tenant itself. However , some factors that when achieving it , was totally to be appaling.

Some factors hinder the success of the parachute:-
  • Firstly , the wind. On the block itself that we tried out , it was considered to be heavy wind as when we try out from the fifth floor in order the parachute to glide down towards the first floor , the wind was heavily pushing our parachute away from the landing spot.
  • Secondly , the string. When the wind blew away the parachute , the string would then be easily entangled. This forces us to think deeply of a critical solution in order not to entangled the string again and again.
  • Last but not least , the timing. The time that we tried out the parachute may not seemed to be accurate as due to the nightfall that happen between us when we have the only time to do it.
Hence , we decided on to add in more string so that it would build up the strength for the tennis ball to hold on the cup that 'acts' as a base. Most importantly , due to time-constrain and also the wind factor that plays the biggest obstacle for the parachute , we decided not to try out at that vicinity. Instead , we prayed for our luck to be on our side as I am certain that the parachute that were enable to try out is not really windy after all.

Thankfully , when the real test was beng carried out , our group recorded the most longest time to land on the floor. Time recorded was 10.97 seconds. Our efforts have actually paid off. The vicinity of Block P , level 7 to level 4 , actually helped us a lot as there was no wind gushed towards the team's and other teams' parachute. We were extremely satisfied with ourselves. The parachute was indeed a success. Due to this success , I said to myself that I'll be keeping the parachute forever.
