Compass Point Shopping Centre!
Opened in late 2003, but officially opened in 2004, this heartland mall in Seng Kang, consists of a library, a food court, several restaurant, former Banquet, before close down and change to Japan Home, and also several merchandises. Firstly, what I can say about this mall, is that it has been part of my life since I shifted to Seng Kang in 2001. Back then, there was nothing across the road. Then, a road come up, which was known as Seng Kang Square, followed by a condominium which houses a bus-interchange and also MRT, as well. This was the last piece that was build up, before opened to public. These are pictures that I take on Wednesday, 21 October 2015 and Sunday, 25 October 2015, right down to the last day of operation.
The last moments that I take an elevator/lift.
Well, apparently towards the last week of this closure, when I walk at this area, the memories of how busy was this area, especially during weekends, come to 'life'. Which all would eventually know that this would be a massive change that needs to be done.
What I can forget is the biggest compartment on the basement level, that houses a supermarket, which was known as Cold Storage. It offers a lot of items, but on a higher price. But, it still gives the convenient for Seng Kang dwellers to shop here, especially on the weekends. Eventually, the last day falls on a weekend, but it wasn't an ordinary weekend, as shown below.
What makes Compass Point distinctively different from other shopping centres in Singapore?
Europe (France, Spain, Portugal, United Kingdom, Iceland - present day)Scandinavian region (Sweden & Norway) plus Eastern Europe.
Eastern Australia
Central Australia
Western Australia.
And, of course, Asia, showing China, Batavia (East Java), Borneo, and Batam/Bintan plus Singapore. Ever wonder what was Singapore known previously?
Hence, if you want to give a new suggestion for this re-branding, feel free to look on the pictures below.
So, there you go! Compass Point will go through a major re-branding from 26 October 2015 (Monday) until Q3 2016, or even early 2017. Hence, I need to go to other areas, or maybe the Seletar Mall then!
Farewell, Compass Point! You will be dearly missed!
