Last day of Week 12!

Hi! Again , I will be sorting out what I have done today.

Today , you all can say that it is the most relaxing day after all as I have only four hours session for Chemical Engineering Principles with Mr Ng Wai Hong. So this started my day,....

I came to school and coincidentally met with my classmates along the way to school. Entering into the class , I saw only the three of us was the earliest. The rest,hmm,....

Then , a few minutes later , most of my classmates came in , including Mr Ng as well. Then , we started our lesson to do the remaining tutorials for Topic II. It was the most challenging ever topic , I admit , but then , when Mr Ng explains , I started to understand the approach on how to solve a question.

Subsequently , after my Friday prayers , we sit down for our two hours lecture. First half of the lecture , he went through the new topics , which was much more easier to understand , and then question and answer session. Then , after an hour , he guided through to find the answer of the Common Test of CEP in short and the verdict , the moment that I have been waiting for has arrived.

The test result was displayed for a while to observe the marks that I get or grades. I still maintain my marks but then , that boost up my confidence to do more better for next week's upcoming test , which would be the Class Test II. I hope that I would get an A.

That's all for today! Bye!

Thursday , 16 July 2009. New post!

Hi again! I thought yesterday that I have mentioned that that would be the last time I sign in before submitting for blog assessment. But I have proven otherwise.

Today , I went to school to start off my day for Communication Skills , and then Mrs Josephine James started trying to defend herself as what she has committed during her lessons. Only about one or two occasions that we feel that she is actually like 'someone's else during that moment' and due to that , we , the students , are like getting to be terrified.

However , that session only ended in about less than half an hour and that was extremely good. Subsequently , we went on with the resume's sharing session and also searching for advertisements for cover letter. With that , lessons ended and went for an hour break before the next lesson.

After that , we went for Engineering Mathematics lecture , and apparently , we continued on with our Matrices yesterday , but with the introduction of Inverse Matrices ( re-fresh and re-cap for me ).

Going on with the Inorganic and Physical Chemistry tutorial , we were asked to do some questions and then she explained and try to understand eventhough sometimes , it's already in confused with the other matter.

We ended off our day with the Materials Science lecture and more sub-topics are being touched for the corrosion part of the lecture.

That's all folks! Hope to see you all again!

Things happened on Wednesday , 15 July 2009

Today would be maybe my last posting for the achievement to build in for the assignment. This is regarding to the submission that maybe pending on next week. However , I hope it would not be the case.

As per normal , I went to start my day fresh by going to school. Usually the red sky morning would accompany me on my way to school. However , heavy rain that drenched me down accompanied me instead.

When I came in for my first lesson on Engineering Mathematics , I learned a new topic known as Determinants and also re-fresh back my memory on about the Matrices. I remembered that there are different types of row alignment range , determined by the row and as well , the column. There's only 2 X 2 , 2 X 3 and 3 X 2 and 3 X 1 kind of matrices. One golden rule that matters is :

3 X 2 2 X 3 = 3 X 3 matrice.

This actually mean that the second alignment of the first matrice MUST BE THE SAME for with the first alignment of the second matrice in order to achieve the end product of a new matrice by remaining equation that matters.

What do I miss , is that , I did not get to see my Common Test marks for this subject. However , I know by one student asking to see his test marks and accidentally , saw my marks when the lecturer scrolled my the tabulated result. I passed , but not really my kind of expectation that I wanted to achieve. I must work harder for the final examinations.

Cutting that out with also the tutorial for the same subject , then continued on the Chemical Enginnering Principles lecture. The lecture continued on where our syllabus has been hanging for almost four weeks that equivalent to a month full.

Then , went for Personal Development and it was such a glad thing to see Mrs Mary Cheong back. Subsequently , went through personal grooming by telling some experiences that the locals have in dismay.

That's all for my post. Eventhough I said that this would be my last post , I hope that I will be sending another post real soon.

Till then , merci ( thanks in French ) and joi gin ( Bye in Cantonese ) !

Common test for week 12!

For this post , I'll be only talking about the days that passed by on Week 12. So far , I had only came back on Monday to sit in for 2 papers and Thurs morning for just a paper.

On Monday , I knew beforehand that it is only 2 elemantary papers mainly Engineering Mathematics and also Chemical Engineering Principles. Therefore , the only thing that I would do is only to practice.

So , I came in quite late for the Engineering Mathematics paper and I had only given an hour to finish up the paper. Luckily , the paper to me , was like a glance through and it was actually very simple. So I did finish the paper after all.

Then , before doing a final revision of CEP in short , I went to the library to do some reading.

Subsequently , some of my friends came in and ask questions , so I entertain them but at the same time , I also was revising on my points as the break was considered too long about six and a half hours ( 6.5 Hours)!!!

Finally , the CEP common test was being safely done.

I felt so relieved after all , and then a few days before Inorganic and Physical Chemistry paper , I started to focus on the subject to run through anything that I do not understand and analyze it at the same time.

So , on Thurs morning , I went in and as usual , I found out that the paper was way too easy. So then , after that , I took a short relax by watching 'Ice-Age III - dawn of the dinosaur'!

Post E-learning exercise conducted on Week 11 and Common Test

This is already week 13. Monday , 13 july 2009 as I am writing down my thoughts on how as in to start off my blog entry.

Monday , as usual , today , were always considered as 'blues' for most of us as need to get up early after a weekend and then start school at 0800h and et cetera , et cetera and et cetera.

Starting off a day with a test on my Materials Science , it was kind of easy but not really that difficult and challenging too , as there was only some sort of 'open' questions. Four questions in total , and it really gives me an alarm to keep focus. Following that , there is a lesson on Materials Science , but importantly it would have been topic six which is on Corrosion Materials. It was actually an oveview of different types of corrosion methods and identifying , but importantly how to deal with it as it would be important in our future life.

After the lesson , then we went on for our practical , also on Material Science. Thinking that we only had to send in a softcopy of the individual assignment , we thought of to see him first and look upon it. We did what we have thought to do it and eventually , we got an early release as the other class were suppose to have their so called 'make-up' lesson.

Eventually , we went for about three hours break and that is where I took my time knowing more about general issues by sitting down at the library.

Subsequently , we went for our next practical that was Inorganic and Physical Chemistry and we perform Practical no 7. It is to find out the enthalpy change of the Zinc and copper solution as the temperature rise up upon adding the Zinc powder. Then , need to measure by timing up from 0 mins to 9 mins and subsequently , plot a graph to show the enthalpy change available.

After that , then there's tutorial on Materials Science and we need to do some presentation. Imagine six people talikng for just a slide in 3 mins! For me , it was like that I do not agree about it. So , the first group adhere to the instructions given and they did well. Our group also did well , but only on the fact that there is some technical glitch that made me to be nervous.

Then , we all went home. So that's our day for today.

I'll give on another post for last week conditions as it was only consider as the Common test week.

E- learning week for NYP students and also other students from other polytechnics , maybe!

This week , according to the actual schedule , it would be our common test week. However , due to the H1N1 influenza virus that spread like a wildfire , including our country ( as of June 30 , 2009 the tally was recorded to 701 cases in Singapore ) , all education institutes are taking pre-caution measures to take inset for the students not to be attending school , but to launch an on-line interactive learning lesson for NYP and other polytechnics here in Singapore.

The good thing is , no need to get out from the house. On Monday , it was terrifically the most memorable one as our class had the first on-line lesson about Materials Science with the lecturer.
I had a good time with it and I do understand better the concepts.

However , as the days passed , it tends to get boring. That was the reasons why some modules give out the benefit of the doubt by doing the assignment of powerpoint slides and a module ask even to prepare the script. Initially , it was until the end of the week. However , the module-in-charge pestered her for the students to submit yesterday ( 30 June 2009 , 1700h Singapore time). I had the great time to crack out the most possible interest that I would do for the script. Luckily , the assignment only urge to do somehing that interest me. So , I just crack out and I got the topic settle and done with it.

Ha , ha , ha , this doesn't mean that the common test topics that supposed to be studied to be forget and throw it aside. It was meant to study with as well. So , just bear it in mind then.

OK! Till now , time to make another post really soon!

My parachute- Process

Picture of the string with the tennis-ball inside.

Hello there! Want to see who our team made the parachute. At first , we thought it was easy but.....

Anyway , let me tell you guys out there the parachute as in , we only made it from a garbage bag followed by a cup to hold the tennis ball. Sounds silly , right? But that's how we made it by using the creativity that we had.

Not only that , with the dimensions given as 50 cm by 50 cm ( maximum ) , we started off with the real work by giving and making trials per trials.

So all the pictures shown here are the real process for the parachute. Imagine yourself doing it!

We took much pain and work to finish up the process. It was exteremely tiring. How not , if without the determination and willingness to do it , we do not think that we can make it.

We took the time to do some trials on the tenant itself. However , some factors that when achieving it , was totally to be appaling.

Some factors hinder the success of the parachute:-
  • Firstly , the wind. On the block itself that we tried out , it was considered to be heavy wind as when we try out from the fifth floor in order the parachute to glide down towards the first floor , the wind was heavily pushing our parachute away from the landing spot.
  • Secondly , the string. When the wind blew away the parachute , the string would then be easily entangled. This forces us to think deeply of a critical solution in order not to entangled the string again and again.
  • Last but not least , the timing. The time that we tried out the parachute may not seemed to be accurate as due to the nightfall that happen between us when we have the only time to do it.
Hence , we decided on to add in more string so that it would build up the strength for the tennis ball to hold on the cup that 'acts' as a base. Most importantly , due to time-constrain and also the wind factor that plays the biggest obstacle for the parachute , we decided not to try out at that vicinity. Instead , we prayed for our luck to be on our side as I am certain that the parachute that were enable to try out is not really windy after all.

Thankfully , when the real test was beng carried out , our group recorded the most longest time to land on the floor. Time recorded was 10.97 seconds. Our efforts have actually paid off. The vicinity of Block P , level 7 to level 4 , actually helped us a lot as there was no wind gushed towards the team's and other teams' parachute. We were extremely satisfied with ourselves. The parachute was indeed a success. Due to this success , I said to myself that I'll be keeping the parachute forever.

Hi again! Meeting in a blog is like what you feel you want to express yourself on something that eventhough you didn't know how to express it , you know how to do it.

Today , I have accomplished my first target on my academic achievement and I feel that I have done something for the best. I have practiced on my Engineering Mathematics , especially on the new topic that I actually did not understand a single thing at first , but after looking and understand about the concepts , I feel that I can get it.

The topic that I wanted to share is on the rectangular form and the polar form of a formula. I understand now that in order to find a rectangular or a polar form , two things you need to find , which is the angle and also the constant , r , that can be found by using the two values that comprehenses the formula a+bj. With these , only you can find the constant , r , and for the angle , it was simplify with the formula of tan @= b/a.

This topic can be found , to those who wants to refer , in topic 8.

OK! Adios , in Spanish means ,Goodbye!

My plans to revise for these 2 weeks.

In this post, I would like to layout the plan that I have already made in order to 'survive' for these two weeks.

During these two weeks , I know that it was some sort of adjustments needed to be make and all those sorts since that for these two weeks , I had to sit at home and rot. Worst of all , I didn't make any plans at all. Already for these two days , I wake up at midday which I usually did not do these during normal holidays. This holiday is meant for study , not really to play much.

Hence , this week , since it was considered as the first week and the list goes long like need to do for Materials Science individual report due on week 13 , study for Chemical Engineering Principles , Engineering Mathematics and Inorganic and Physical Chemistry , this week I am going to focus on my report for almost around four days , practice on my Engineering Mathematics since that only can be done and also read more and memorize on my Inorganic and Physical Chemistry. Yup , this week I am going to sit at home only , except for my Friday prayers.

Next week , I have one solid week for my practice on my CEP in short , to focus and concentrate on. Hopefully , my this formula works.

Getting familiarize with the goal setting.

I believe that somehow I need to change my strategies on as to how I have study during before the test and also preparing myself for the examination. Since aftermath of the tests , mainly Inorganic And Physical Chemistry , Engineering Mathematics and also Material Science , so far I have scored the best for Material Science.

Personal Development (follow trait of SMART goals)

Welcome to a new horizon for my utmost creative hierarchy appearance.

For the first time , I will be updating my SMART goals on to achieve an 'A's for my module subject.

Since last week , I have been planning to achieve my target and try even to ask on the topic that I really do not understand. No matter how hard and how difficult it might be , the reality is that I need to face it.

Continue by next week then.
